Octane was found as a kitten after being hit by a car and left at the side of the road for over a day. Dr Lane picked him up and brought him back to the hospital where Lorraine and other staff members nursed him back to health. His concussion was so severe that it left him deaf for months, and suffering from a seizure disorder that lasted several years. Even though he is doing much better now, we still suspect that he never will win the Nobel Prize for science. Octane’s current job is to flirt with puppies and donate blood.

Intrepid ambassador of Coast Mountain Vet, Milo’s other job is to undermine the importance of keeping your cat skinny. He was originally supposed to visit the hospital for a day before being transferred to WAG but after we found him fast asleep while “spooning” Octane, we couldn’t let him go. Milo’s hobbies include eating, lazing about, remaining calm, eating, and walking slowly

When David first moved to Whistler in 1992 he thought it would only be for a year or two. Instead, he fell in love with the region and never quite left. His interests include skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, and working on the farm with his wife, Lauren. At last count, they have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 4 horses, 8 ducks, 6 pigs, and 40 chickens. Remember to check out their farm's website at www.eatfreerange.ca. Dr. Lane is a veterinary chiropractor, and much of his caseload relates to lameness medicine and orthopaedic surgery. Currently, he performs lameness and surgical consults for a total of five facilities throughout the sea-to-sky corridor and lower mainland. He also performs equine chiropractic assessments.

Looking for a refined and spirited work environment, Julie joined our caring crew following her graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2006. Her background is in human kinetics and ecosystem health - studying diseases that affect humans, livestock and wildlife interchangeably. On her days off you might find her skiing, biking or playing ultimate frisbee with Whistler's team (Frost Bite) or hockey with the Physio-Flyers. Her dog, Ted has also become a member of our working team and is eager to welcome you and your pet at our front door.

In January 2000, Annie left behind the beautiful white sandy beaches of Gold Coast Australia and her career as a veterinarian to holiday in Whistler. Years later, she’s still here. When not trail running, biking, or enjoying the music and culture of our little village, she works as one of our talented technicians. Jasper and Cherokee, her fluff ball children, frequently accompany her to work (and virtually everywhere else). Her first Canadian pet was a prickly, not so friendly hedgehog called Wicket who now lives with a friend...what a great birthday present!!

Jen started working for Coast Mountain Veterinary Services initially back in 1994 after completing the Animal Health Technology program at what was then The University College of the Cariboo in Kamloops. A few months into the commute to Pemberton from Squamish, the distance proved too much so she left to work in North Vancouver. She rejoined the practice in 2006 after adding her husband Dale, dog Sadie, and children Jeremy and Cassidy to her family. She resides in Squamish. The latest addition to her family is a boxer puppy named Ripley.

Tara was born and raised on Vancouver Island and grew up around animals. She moved to Whistler in 1997 then left in 2003 to go to school in the lower mainland. After completing a Veterinary Hospital Assistant program, she moved back to the island to work at a vet clinic in Ladysmith, but then a position became available for her here. Loving Whistler as she does, she packed up her 2 furry kids Kona and Juan, rushed back and has been happily employed ever since. When not snowboarding, playing ball or just out enjoying the local beauty, Tara (and dogs) can be found working here, providing love and care to all our furry four legged clients. She has also added a three legged cat from WAG, Rasta. He often can be found relaxing in our hospital, snuggled up to Milo and Octane.

Chandel grew up at Birkenhead lake just north of Pemberton. She started out as a work experience student in Pemberton, but at the completion of her program she realized how much she enjoys working with animals and now her six month placement has entered its seventh year. She currently lives in Darcy with her 2 furry feline children (Max and Moose) and her boyfriend (Lance). She has recently returned from a maternity leave, and now spends her days off chasing around her son, Mason.

Sarah Dykes grew up on a farm in southwestern Ontario and moved to Whistler in 2001, after completing her kinesiology degree. Upon adoption of her first dog, she realized her true passion was animals and began studying dog behavior, training, and applied behavior analysis. Sarah completed 3 year Diploma of Dog Training and Behavior Consulting and can be found teaching Puppy Preschool on Tuesday evenings here at the clinic. When not at work, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her boyfriend, Andrew, and her two dogs, Carmac and Shorty, both adopted from WAG.
